Spring is Here!

The weather has been quite warm during the last week, but the days have been gorgeous. The pear trees and azaleas are blooming, and the leaves have that luscious lime-green shade to them. We have loved being outside! Yesterday, we headed over to campus to run and play. MG insisted on wearing one of her new dresses from Mimi, so I decided to take a few pictures. We are so thankful to live in such a beautiful place!

First Birthday!

On his first birthday, S woke up to pancakes, presents, and a place riding forward next to his sister. I don't know who enjoyed the morning more-S or his sister!

First Cupcake

On his way up to the mountains, Pops drove an hour out of his way to our house just to surprise S with a cupcake. What a fun treat! You can see the progression from these pictures---S stared at the cupcake for awhile, tasted it, and then decided he better eat every last bit of it.

First Birthday Party

S ended his busy day at Fuddruckers for his first birthday party. As you can tell, he loved his first taste of chocolate icing! He's had more sugar in one day than he's had in his entire life. We are so thankful for our first year with this little man! He is such a joy!

Black Beans!

One of the few foods that S will eat is black beans. Here are a few pictures of mealtime. He is such a sweet, happy boy!

We did it!

The culmination of our time in JAX was the River Run. David met us in Jax from Mississippi, ML came, and we ran the 15K with 14,000 of our closest friends. The day was beautiful, but a little hotter than we were used to, and we had a blast. MG and Pops came to cheer us on. We enjoyed the post-race festivities, but the clown was a little frightening to all of us.

Blogging!

After several months of wanting to start my own blog, I finally decided to try it. We want to keep family updated on daily life in the Speakman home.

Last week, we went to Jacksonville to stay with G. and Pops while David was in Mississippi. We loved a visit to the zoo that included MG's favorite--the carousel! She got to ride on the leopard. S enjoyed the stroller ride, and the zoo train was a winner.
